December 29, (THEWILL) – Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has thrown its weight behind the agitation of the G5 Governors to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor emerged from southern Nigeria.
A statement by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, commended the efforts of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and other G5 Governors, for insisting on a rotational presidency between the North and South.
According to him, Ndigbo will continue to support the G5 Governors, urging them to stand up for what is right and support any candidate from the south.
It further added that the resistance of the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is the reason why Ndigbo is behind the G5 Governors.
The statement reads, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has called on Nigerians to accept the choice of G5 Governors in their bid to present a ” Unifier” and southerner.
“The choice of the next President of Nigeria and President Buhari’s successor by May 2023, Ndigbo have agreed that with the presence of three of our own in the G5 Governors and integrity group, we have the implicit confidence that Governor Wike and others who are seen by Nigerians as the heroes of Democracy and are saddled with the responsibility of presenting a preferred Presidential candidate whose competence and capabilities are verifiable and dispositions are acceptable across the country.

“The political manipulation of a few politicians will never stand against the interests of the majority of Nigerians, and Nigerians are ready for the G5 group and are waiting patiently for the G5 London resolutions”, he stated.
Isiguzoro further added that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has proved that he will be a pro-Igbo Senator, as Abia State has been declared open as the most peaceful state in the Southeast with zero violence and insecurity.
“Ndigbo has scrutinised that Abia has a record of minimal violence and there is no observation of sit-at-home in Abia for the last 7 months now. Ndigbo is ready to support other Southeast governors facing insecurity challenges”, he assured.
