2023: Obi Unveils Campaign Manifesto, Lists Seven Key Areas

December 04, (THEWILL) – The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has unveiled his agenda for Nigeria in his manifesto titled, “Obi/Baba-Ahmed Pact with Nigerians.”

National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Abayomi Arabambi, who made this known on Saturday night, said the 62-page document would be unveiled formally to Nigerians on Sunday, December 4th, 2022.

The Manifesto promises seven priority areas needed to jump-start the economy and move the country from consumption to production.

Obi-Datti pact with Nigerians includes securing the country, ending banditry and insurgency; and uniting the country in such a way “that no one is left behind.”

“Move Nigeria from consumption to production and embark on comprehensive legal and institutional reforms and practicable restructuring measures, to fight corruption; ensure the enthronement of the rule of law, and decisively tackle all forms of corruption.

“Prioritise Human Capital Development through robust investments in STEM education, health, and infrastructural development, with emphasis on wealth creation, distribution, and sustainable development.

“Improve access to finance, particularly to MSMEs, youths, and women, to significantly reduce unemployment and insecurity.

“Ensure that governance will be made more inclusive, cost-effective, transformative, and less transactional in policy and practice—no more sharing of the national wealth by a few.

“Restructure the polity through effective legal and institutional civil service. Leapfrog Nigeria into the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), through the application of scientific and technological innovations to create reforms to entrench the rule of law, aggressively fight corruption, reduce the cost of governance, and establish an honest and efficient digital economy.

“Build expansive and world-class infrastructure for efficient power scholarship and research, quality healthcare, and entrepreneurship global competitiveness through investment in world-class supply, rail, road and air transportation, and pipeline network, entrepreneurial public sector governance.”

The Labour Party presidential candidate also promised to conduct “an afro-centric diplomacy that protects the rights of Nigerian citizens abroad and advance the economic interests of Nigerians and Nigerian businesses in a changing world.”
