November 16, (THEWILL) – The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that in order to improve the economy when he assumes power in 2023, he would ensure a liberalised economy and promote a private sector driven economy.
Speaking as a guest at the Nigerian Editors Forum in Lagos, on Wednesday, Atiku said he would continue the policy of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, between 1999 and 2007 by continuing with the privatisation of public Enterprise.
In addition, the presidential candidate said as a way of ensuring unity, PDP will form a government of national unity by including the opposition in government after winning the 2023 poll.
Atiku said this was what the PDP government did under Obasanjo when members of the Alliance for Democracy and Nigeria Peoples Party, were included in government after PDP won the election in 1999.
“Even though PDP won overwhelmingly in 1999, we still included members of the opposition parties in a government of national unity and with that, we were able to ensure unity”, he said.
Speaking further, the former Vice President promised not to behave like President Muhammadu Buhari, who picked almost all the Heads of Security operatives from a section of the country, saying he would ensure every geo-political zone is represented in the headship of the security agencies.
He also promised to include more women in governance after winning the 2023 election.
