13th Month Salary: Imo Workers Extol Uzodimma, Commends Him For Gifts Of Rice, Other items

December 24, (THEWILL) – The present administration of Sen. Hope Uzodimma, can be said to be the most workers-friendly government, unlike his counterparts in other States.

This has been witnessed through the kind gestures he has shown so far, to the Civil servants in Imo state, by approving the payment of 13th-month salary payment, as well as doling out bags of rice to them for Christmas, including other items for the yuletide season.

Our roving reporter, who visited Imo State Secretariat, Owerri, on Thursday, to get the reactions of the beneficiaries, spotted some workers with their faces beaming with smiles over the Governor’s benevolence on civil servants.

In an interview, a staff in the Ministry of Special Project, Mrs Comfort Dim, expressed appreciation to the Governor for magnanimously approving a 13th-month salary payment for them.

“In fact, the Governor has done well. He is a talk-and-do leader. For giving us Christmas rice and 13th-month salary, we are grateful to him,” she stated.

Mr. Peter Onyeneke of the Ministry of Environment and his counterpart in the Office of the Head of Service, Okoro Ifeyinwa, who told this newspaper that she just received an alert from her bank, said she could not thank the Governor enough for being nice to the civil servants in Imo.

She said, “Governor Uzodimma has really proved that he has the interest of all of us at heart. He should bear in mind that we are going to support him for the second term.”

In her reaction, through a telephone interview, a Civil servant in Abia State, who pleaded anonymity, said the Imo State Governor is doing well for workers more than others in the country.

“I would want other Governors to emulate Sen. Hope Uzodimma in the manner he places a high premium on his work on prompt payment of salaries, gift of rice for Christmas and the approval of 13- month for them,” she states.

She thumbs up to Imo workers for having a Governor that cares for them and therefore, enjoined them to be dedicated and committed to duty.

Meanwhile, workers in the Parastatals have appealed to the Governor to extend the same kind of gestures to them.

It would be recalled that Governor Uzodimma, in the spirit of the Christmas season, made the approval at the Imo State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, wherein he approved the 13-month salary payment, saying workers would be given rice and other food items to enable them to enjoy the season fully.
