August 15, (THEWILL) – AS Monaco have secured the services of Swiss international, Denis Zakaria, signing the midfielder from Juventus on a five-year contract.
The 26-year-old moved to Juventus in January 2022 and went on to make 11 appearances for the Italian giants. However, last September he was loaned out to Chelsea where he featured just seven times in the English Premier League for the Stamford Bridge London club.
Zakaria is headed for a new chapter of his career at Monaco but with a familiar face, as he will link up with manager Adi Huetter for the third time, having previously played for the Austrian coach at Young Boys Bern and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the past.
“He’s a very talented player,” said Huetter on Friday, about the prospect of Zakaria joining Monaco. “I met him at Young Boys Bern, where he arrived when he was 18. Then I met him again at Mönchengladbach. He’d be a good recruit and his style would suit Monaco perfectly.”
While the transfer fee was not disclosed by Monaco, sources monitored by THEWILL note that the Ligue 1 club paid Juventus around €20 million to acquire the midfielder.
