March 06, (THEWILL) – It was real muscle and weapons flexing last Saturday at Sabon Gida village of Langtang South local government area of Plateau state as youths loyal to the incumbent chairman, Hon Vincent Bulus Venman, and the politically persecuted chairman of Langtang North, Hon Ubandoma Laven, clashed during the Resettlement Day celebration in the area.
The tussle later degenerated into a free-for-all fight between rival political youths, leaving several persons injured.
Ubandoma Laven, a political godson of late Chief Solomon Lar, was illegally removed as chairman of Langtang North by Governor Simon Lalong, while Vincent is the current chairman of Langtang South LGC.
It was gathered that the skirmish started when the haunted chairman of Langtang North, Hon Ubandoma Laven who is a member of the PDP, stormed the venue of the occasion and was invited by the Master of Ceremonies to come over to the high table.
This, according to Lanchang Timpil, an eyewitness, did not go down well with the Chairman of Langtang South, Hon Vincent Bulus Venman.
Timpil claimed in his account that the Chairman of Langtang South immediately stood up and walked up to the troubled chairman of Langtang North, Hon Ubandoma Laven and slapped him to the astonishment of others present.
“This action suddenly created tension in the community, which resulted into a stampede among the youths, leading to many people being injured.
According to him, “as I speak to you ,so many people are injured.” This sad development has created tension in the whole Langtang South.
Among those injured, it was gathered, is the Chairman of Langtang South, Hon Vincent Bulus Venman who is currently being treated at home, while Laven Ubandoma was smuggled out of the venue unhurt.
Efforts to reach both the chairman of Langtang South, Hon Vincent Bulus Venman, and that of Langtang North, Hon Ubandoma Laven, were abortive as their phones were switched off.
