November 13, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board has unveiled plans to revitalise youth football in the country with the launch of the 2023/2024 NPFL Youth League, it was announced on Monday.
To this end, the League said it has set up a seven-member Youth League Committee to organise the new tournament, which will be held during the mid-season break. The aim is to boost grassroots football and provide a pathway for talented young players into the professional game.
Former Abia Warriors chairman, Emeka Inyama, will chair the committee, which also includes Benue State FA chairman Paul Ede, ex-international Patrick Paschal and representatives from the NPFL and state FAs.

According to the NPFL, the Youth League will feature one-week regional tournaments to determine qualifiers for a national championship playoff later in the season.
The move is a positive step in revitalising youth development across the country. With its large population and passion for football, Nigeria has huge potential at grassroots level and the new league will aim to capitalise on this is well implemented.
