SAN FRANCISCO, March 29, (THEWILL) – Yobe State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Habu Zarma, said on Sunday that security concerns necessitated the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold election in 18 wards in Gaidam Local government areas on Sunday.

Speaking with journalists in Damaturu, the state capital, Zarma said the electoral officers posted to the affected wards were advised against proceeding based on security concerns.

He also blame the shift in the exercise on non arrival of electoral materials in 18 polling units in Fika, Potiskum and Yunusari Local Government Areas even as he disclosed that the shift affected 10 units of Fika Local Government Areas as well as four units each in Potiskum and Yunusari Local Government Areas.
