November 21, (THEWILL) – Talented music act, Ayo Balogun, aka Wizkid, has carted home two awards at the just concluded American Music Award.
The singer emerged winner of the Favourite Afrobeat Artiste award and the Favorite RnB Song for ‘Essence’.
The award ceremony held on Sunday at the Microsoft Theatre in Los-Angeles, California, United States.
The singer won the Afrobeats award ahead of Burna Boy, CKay, Fireboy and Tems, who competed in the same category.
This is the first time the annual award will feature an Afrobeats category.
Tems was also named the joint winner of the ‘Favourite Hip Hop Song’ category for her role in Future’s ‘Wait For You’ featuring Drake.
Taylor Swift was the biggest winner on the night as she snagged six awards including the ‘Artist of the Year’ prize.
