June 23, (THEWILL) – Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Godswill Orubebe, on Thursday, visited Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, at his private residence in Port Harcourt.

Orubebe had a couple of days resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in protest to the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate from the North.

The former Minister is the fourth prominent Nigerian to visit Wike in the last days.

While Dave Umahi had on Tuesday night met with Governor Wike, the presidential candidate of the Labour (LP), Peter Obi, as well as Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, met separately with the Rivers State governor on Wednesday.

However, the latest meeting between Orubebe and Wike held behind closed-door and none of them spoke to journalists after the meeting.

Recall that both men served together in the cabinet of former President Goodluck Jonathan before Wike resigned to contest the 2015 governorship election on the platform of the PDP.

THEWILL reports that there is uncertainties surrounding Wike’s future in the PDP, following the outcome of the presidential primary of the party.

The PDP had elected former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, as its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

The Rivers State governor is widely speculated to be scheming to dump the PDP. He is believed to be currently disgruntled over the decision of Atiku to pick Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State over him as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
