February 20, (THEWILL) – Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, has opened up on why she often wears berets.
The singer, who can hardly be spotted without a beret on her head, spoke with The Guardian about her love for it.
According to her, the desire to be different made her start wearing berets and it has evolved into a business for her.
“I just needed to be different. I felt I needed to be unique not just with my craft but also my style. That’s how wearing berets came about. It has now evolved into an online business on Instagram. In one word, my fashion style is modest.”
Also speaking about her marriage, the singer noted that it has been beautiful.
“It’s been a beautiful journey. Marriage is a blessing, it has really impacted my career positively. The Bible says one will chase a thousand and two ten thousand.
“I am excited to see all of that become my reality, doing life with my gee,” she stated.
When asked why she didn’t deviate from gospel music like some of her colleagues who started in church, the singer said her voice was given as a gift and she has to use it to glorify the giver.
“A fish cannot survive outside its source. Jesus gave me this gift and I am fulfilled staying aligned with God’s purpose for my life. There is nothing compared to the joy and peace of serving God,” she added.
