March 17, (THEWILL) — Israel on Tuesday claimed it had killed Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in an overnight airstrike on Tehran.

Israel’s Defence Minister said Larijani was “eliminated” in the strike, describing the operation as a major blow to Iran’s wartime leadership structure.

Officials also claimed that other senior figures, including a top commander of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force, were killed in separate attacks.

There has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding Larijani’s status.
