We’re Here To Transform Nigeria From Crawling Country To Thriving Economy – Tinubu Tells German Chancellor

October 29, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, assured that his administration is determined to change the narrative about a weak and crawling economy by bringing about transformation to governance.

The President gave the assurance during bilateral political talks with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and his entourage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Welcoming the delegation, Tinubu expressed his pleasure and highlighted the Supreme Court’s ruling, which allows for a greater focus on governance and moving Nigeria forward economically for prosperity and the defence of democracy.

He, however, welcomed the German government for more cooperation in multiple areas.

“I know Germany has advanced a lot in protecting the environment and modernizing energy to meet the 21st-century needs of the world and Europe in particular.

“Nigeria is still crawling, but we are determined to change the narrative and bring about a transformative government in the country,” Tinubu told the visiting German Chancellor.

He also stressed Nigeria’s position as the largest economy in Africa, blessed with a good environment, favourable weather, and abundant mineral resources.

Tinubu concluded the meeting by highlighting the security challenges in the Sahel region of Africa and expressed the need for Germany’s assistance in addressing these issues.

The President called for improved cooperation in security, natural resources, education, and democracy among others, with the government of Germany.

“Our hydrocarbon industry is still fledgling environmentally, but we are moving towards transitioning to renewable energy sources. Your delegation is welcome to partner with us in education, power, mineral resources, and other opportunities. We have made progress in ensuring the security of our people, but we still need support in fighting terrorism and sustaining democracy,” Tinubu stated.

In his response, German Chancellor, Scholz, highlighted the need for further collaboration on infrastructure, particularly in electricity and energy.

He also thanked President Tinubu for his role in ECOWAS and called for collaboration in ensuring peace and stability in Africa and the world at large.
