BEVERLY HILLS, February 06, (THEWILL) – Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers representing Anambra State in the National Assembly have officially informed the National Assembly and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that they were not sacked by the Supreme Court judgment of January 29, 2016.
They consequently requested the two institutions and the general public to ignore the claim by Chief Chris Uba and eight others that they have been cleared to take over as elected federal lawmakers representing Anambra on the platform of the PDP.
The lawmakers including Senators Andy Uba and Stella Oduah, in a statement signed by their counsel, Mr. Vincent Otaokpukpu of Chief Arthur Obi Okafor (SAN) Chambers bemoaned what they termed misleading media reports of the judgment of the Supreme Court of January 29, 2016.
They noted that media reports created a picture that the Supreme Court sacked PDP senators and other members of the National Assembly representing Anambra from the PDP.
The lawmakers consequently urged the INEC, the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and the public to disregard and ignore the reports as they do not reflect the rulings of the apex court.
