June 20, (THEWILL) – On Tuesday, June 21, the Nigerian Under-17 national team will face Ivory Coast in one of the semi-final matches of the ongoing 2023 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations WAFU Zone B qualification round.
So far, the Nigerians and the Ivorians have not been clinical in front of goal, with the two teams scoring 17 goals in just five games. On matchday one, the Nduka Ugbade-trained team smashed four goals against Ghana to win 4-2 against the hosts. On matchday two, the Eaglets did not spare their neighbours Togo, winning 3-1.
But, the seven goals in two games of the Nigerian youth side was matched by Ivory Coast’s forwards with ten goals in three games. The Young Elephants scored twice in a 2-2 draw with Benin, won a resounding 6-1 triumph over Niger, and added another brace in a 2-4 loss to Burkina Faso.

The Ivorians only had three Group B points after two losses and one win, but Benin’s shock defeat to Niger on matchday three provided the Young Elephants a fortuitous ticket to the last four.
The match will be held at the Cape Coast Stadium on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, with a 16:00 kickoff (4 pm, Nigerian time)
