February 25, (THEWILL) – Voting has commenced in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s polling Centre awaits electoral materials and electoral officers.

At Ward 11 Unit 15, Abeokuta North Local Government Area, the election commenced as early as 08.40am, so also at Ward 11, Unit 16 of the same local government.

At the two units within the premises of African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko, voters were seen in their large numbers with security operatives manning the units.

At Unit 15, Akanbi Semiu, who was the first to be accredited, expressed worry as he had to wait for almost 10 minutes before he was recognised by the BVAS machine.

Akanni, whose accreditation failed through the voter card, was later captured through his facial recognition through the same BVAS machine.

At Unit 16, some of the voters were already casting their votes with a minimum of one minute for accreditation.

At Obasanjo’s polling unit in Olusomi compound, Sokori Abeokuta, no electoral officer was on ground as at 9am.

At Unit 22 of Ward 11, Abeokuta North, only a police officer and voters were noticed at the centre when our Correspondent visited.

Meanwhile, former Governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who is contesting for the Ogun West Senatorial District seat, was yet to cast his vote when we visited his polling unit at Olukokun Compound, Ward 12, Unit 7 in Sagamu.
