Vinicius Jr Thigh Injury Another Setback For Real Madrid

November 18, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid’s season has been dealt a major setback with the news that star forward Vinicius Junior has suffered a serious thigh injury while on international duty with Brazil. Tests conducted on Saturday confirmed Vinicius has a tear in the femoral biceps muscle with involvement of the distal tendon in his left leg.

Vinicius picked up the injury during Brazil’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Thursday. He was substituted early in the first half. Without Vinicius, Brazil went on to lose the match 2-1. After the game, Vinicius revealed the injury was likely a recurrence of a thigh problem that had kept him out for a month earlier this season.

The test results showed this new injury is worse than the one suffered in August. Vinicius is now expected to be out until the new year. This is a huge blow for Real Madrid, who also lost midfielder Eduardo Camavinga for the remainder of 2023 due to a knee injury.

With other key players injured like Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni, Real Madrid will be shorthanded as they compete in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League over the next few months. These absences are untimely setbacks for the Spanish club. All eyes will be on how Real Madrid copes without some of its brightest young stars for the duration of their injuries.

These could not have come at a worse time as Los Blancos fights for La Liga and UCL titles. The team will undoubtedly miss Vinicius’s pace, dribbling and goalscoring down the left wing. His prolonged absence may force manager Carlo Ancelotti to rejig his attack as the season progresses.
