October 31, (THEWILL) – Brazilian forward, Vinicius Junior, has agreed to a new long-term contract with Real Madrid, keeping him at the La Liga giants until 2027. The 23-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire in 2024, but he has now committed his future to the club for a further three years.

Vinicius joined Real from Flamengo as an 18-year-old in 2018 and has since made over 200 appearances, scoring 63 goals. He has been a key player under manager, Carlo Ancelotti, helping the club win LaLiga in 2022, as well as the UEFA Champions League, scoring the winner in the 1-0 final victory over Liverpool.

The new contract is reported to include a €1 billion release clause, underlining Real’s determination to keep hold of one of their most talented young players. Vinicius expressed his delight at the deal, saying: “It is a dream for me to continue here for many years, scoring many goals and winning many titles.”

The deal comes after Vinicius was subjected to racist abuse from fans during the recent El Clasico victory over Barcelona. The forward, who won the Socrates award at the Ballon d’Or on Monday, used his acceptance speech to condemn such abuses, saying authorities need to do more to tackle racism.

With his long-term future now secured, Vinicius will be hoping to build on his achievements at Real Madrid and establish himself as one of the best players in world football over the coming years. His talent and work ethic suggest he has the potential to become a club legend.
