October 14, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid star, Vinicius Junior, has revealed that he may not spend his entire playing career at the Spanish club, despite being on the verge of signing a new long-term contract.

The 22-year-old Brazilian joined Los Blancos from Flamengo in 2018 and initially struggled to make an impact, scoring just 14 goals in his first three seasons. However, Vinicius enjoyed a breakout campaign in the 2021/2022 season, netting 22 goals as Real claimed both La Liga and Champions League titles.

In an interview with France Football and L’Equipe, Vinicius admitted he could stay at the Bernabeu for the rest of his career but would likely return to Flamengo at some point due to a promise made to his father.

“I think I could stay here my whole career, but the club of my life is Flamengo. I promised my father I would go back one day. I have to keep this promise,” he said.

While Vinicius is clearly happy in Madrid for now, it seems a return to Brazil is on the cards later in his career to fulfil a commitment to his family and boyhood club. Meanwhile, Real will hope his time at the Spanish capital will reap more titles.
