Max Verstappen won the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, to mark his 11th victory of the 2022 Formula One season.
The Red Bull race driver started in seventh place with Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz at the back of the field because of the penalties they received after qualifying. This setup made the starting grid at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza appear unique compared to other races.
The best drivers continued to demonstrate their prowess, with Verstappen moving up to the front and establishing a sizable lead. After a Daniel Ricciardo stoppage, the race was stopped with the safety car, giving Verstappen the opportunity to win for the fifth race in a row.
Charles Leclerc, who had an additional pit stop, came in second for Ferrari as he was unable to make up any lost ground prior to the yellow flag. Sainz and Hamilton lost out to George Russell for the final podium slot. With six events left, the result helped to establish an even more commanding lead in the driver standings.
