Vehicle Speed Limits Shouldn’t Exceed 80km Per Hour On Third Mainland Bridge – FG Warns

April 05, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has warned that vehicle speed limits on the Third Mainland bridge must not exceed 80 kilometres per hour.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, who declared the speed limit during the official opening of the bridge on Thursday, expressed gratitude to Lagosians for their patience during the last five months of extensive repairs of the bridge.

Represented by Olukorede Kesha, Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Umahi, while performing the reopening of the bridge, said other ancillary works, including the installation of speed limits, guard rails, and CCTV among others, will end by May 24.

Umahi, who lauded President Bola Tinubu for making funding seamless to achieve the infrastructure upgrade, said the underdeck rehabilitation of the bridge would continue without any further hindrance to vehicular traffic.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has cautioned motorists against overspeeding as there are speed cameras that would capture them, with appropriate fines.
