September 03, (THEWILL) – In a friendly match on Saturday, at Children’s Mercy Park, the US Women’s National Team defeated Nigeria 4-0, to continue their winning streak over the Super Falcons.
Supporters of the USWNT thronged to the Kansas City park to watch their favourites put their Nigerian counterparts to the sword. In the opening period, Sophia Smith scored two goals to open a gap and make it even more difficult to catch up with the Americans. Before the break, Lindsey Horan added another goal, giving the Americans a 3-0 advantage.
In the 52nd minute, Alex Morgan scored the fourth USWNT goal. As THEWILL reported, the friendly is the first of two friendlies against Nigeria, scheduled for September.
Having secured the win, which is the 12th consecutive victory for the ladies, they will quickly begin to prepare for Tuesday’s second game in the friendly series.
