February 06, (THEWILL) –Â Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain after the Gabonese striker was left out of the club’s 25-man Champions League squad as THEWILL reported.
Despite joining the Blues in the summer of 2022, Aubameyang has fallen down the pecking order in West London and has been linked with moves to Atletico Madrid and AC Milan. However, FIFA rules prevented a transfer as the striker has already represented Barcelona and Chelsea in the 2022/2023 season, and a player can only represent two teams in one season.
Atletico Madrid and AC Milan were reportedly interested in acquiring Aubameyang during the January transfer window, but the striker was unable to move due to these FIFA rules. Despite a successful stint at Barcelona where he scored 13 goals in 24 appearances, the Catalan club was unable to sign him due to Financial Fair Play concerns.

Meanwhile, Chelsea was active in the transfer window, bringing in seven players and only letting one depart, leaving Aubameyang on the sidelines for their recent 0-0 draw with Fulham. Aubameyang’s lack of game time at Chelsea raises questions about his future with the club, and the striker may need to find a new team to secure regular playing time.
However, the restrictions imposed by FIFA rules could make it difficult for him to secure a transfer, and it remains to be seen where his future lies beyond this campaign.
