Uganda Date Iraq In Friendly

GTBCO FOOD DRINL

The Uganda Cranes will next Wednesday play Iraq in an international friendly as they begin preparations for Cecafa and Africa Nations Championships (Chan).

Micho Sredojevic, the Cranes coach, confirmed to SuperSport.com on Wednesday that they travel next Monday for the game to be played Amman, Jordan two days later.

“We are using this game to give a chance to some new players as we as use it to help the backbone of our Chan team,” said Micho.

“It will help get us match action as we also prepare for Cecafa in December in Nairobi.”

Uganda’s earlier scheduled friendly against Iraq in July was cancelled after Fifa banned home matches citing insecurity in the Asian country.

The Cranes are just from being ejected from the 2014 World Cup qualification by Senegal and hope to bounce back in Cecafa and Chan in South Africa in January.

The team that leaves for Amman on Monday will return home immediately after the Wednesday friendly.
