March 07, (THEWILL) – Liverpool fans, who attended last season’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris, will be refunded by UEFA, following an independent report revealing the mistreatment they suffered outside the Stade de France.

French authorities fired tear gas at supporters without just cause, and only the calmness of the fans prevented a “mass fatality catastrophe.”

“We recognise the negative experiences of those supporters on the day and with this scheme, we will refund fans, who had bought tickets and who were the most affected by the difficulties in accessing the stadium,” said UEFA General Secretary, Theodore Theodoridis.

According to the General Secretary, the refund scheme is comprehensive and fair, taking into account a “huge number of views expressed both publicly and privately,” added Theodoridis. Liverpool FC supporter organisations, Spirit of Shankly (SoS) and Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association (LDSA) provided input into the refund scheme, and there was “open and transparent dialogue throughout this period.”

Refunds will be available to fans with tickets for gates A, B, C, X, Y, and Z, as well as fans, who were unable to enter the stadium before the originally scheduled kick-off time or who were unable to enter the stadium at all. Accessibility ticket holders and their accompanying persons will also be eligible for refunds.
