October 04, (THEWILL) – AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund played out a 0-0 draw in their UEFA Champions League group stage clash at Signal Iduna Park. Both sides had opportunities to claim all three points, but neither could find the breakthrough.
Milan started cautiously but grew into the game, with Olivier Giroud hooking their best chance of the first half over after being played through on goal. Dortmund had several chances of their own and captain, Marco Reus, went close on a couple of occasions. However, some last-ditch Milan defending kept the scores level at the break.
The second half was an open affair as both teams pushed for a winner. Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze was guilty of wasting two gilt-edged chances to grab a late winner for the visitors. Meanwhile, Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko fluffed his lines after being teed up in the box.
Ultimately, neither side could find that moment of magic in front of goal. Milan will be the happier of the two teams with an away point, but Dortmund spurned chances to claim victory on home soil.
The draw leaves Milan third in Group E on two points after two matches. Dortmund are worse off at the bottom of the group with just one point, three points behind Group F leaders Newcastle United. On matchday three, Milan take on PSG in France.
