June 21, (THEWILL) – With the countdown to the TotalEnergies CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2023, rapidly ticking away, the official poster of the tournament has been unveiled amidst great celebration.
The poster captures the essence of the competition, showcasing the hand of a footballer gripping the coveted trophy, symbolising the pursuit of continental dominance. The illustration incorporates green rays representing Africa’s lush green lawns, while the red hues convey the passion emanating from the participating nations and the host country’s national flag.
The TotalEnergies CAF U23 AFCON commences on June 24, with the opening match set to take place in Rabat. The hosts, Morocco, will go head-to-head against Guinea in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. This edition of the tournament holds added significance as it serves as a qualifier for the Summer Olympics in Paris 2024.
It marks the second time that Morocco has had the privilege of hosting the TotalEnergies CAF U23 AFCON since its inception in 2011. For the sake of the tournament, two stadiums have been selected to host the matches. The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium and the Ibn-Batouta Stadium, popularly known as the Grand Stade de Tanger, will provide the stage for the battles between the continent’s rising football talents.
The participating teams have been divided into two groups. Group A consists of Morocco, Ghana, Congo, and Guinea, while Group B comprises Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Niger.
