U20 AFCON Players Open Camp Ahead Of Competition

January 09, (THEWILL) – Three players, Dominion Ohaka, Aminu Yusuf and Nathaniel Nwosu, have joined the Nigeria national team for the TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Yusuf, a defender for Lobi Stars, arrived on Sunday night, along with Chijioke Aniagboso, a goalkeeper for Giant Brillars. Ohaka and Nwosu, who plays as a goalkeeper for Water FC, joined the team after participating in a 5-0 victory over Kuje FC on Sunday afternoon. Ohaka scored two goals and provided an assist in the game.

Training sessions for the team will begin on Monday, as they prepare for the tournament, which also serves as the qualifying event for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.

Nigeria is placed in Group A with Egypt, Senegal, and Mozambique, while Group B consists of Uganda, Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Congo. The Gambia, Tunisia, Benin Republic, and Zambia make up Group C.
