October 24, (THEWILL) – Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, president of the Nigerian Football Federation, will be on hand to support Nigeria’s Under-17 women’s football team, the Flamingoes, who play Colombia in the semi-finals of this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Wednesday in Goa.
The NFF president, who had spoken with the players and officials numerous times during their earlier games, will be present for the semi-final match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, India.
The first semi-final will begin at midday, Nigerian time, followed by the second semi-final between Germany and Spain.
The Flamingoes have the chance to advance to Sunday’s final with a win over Colombia, who were 3-0 winners over Tanzania, the only other African team to reach the knockout round.
Under the nascent presidency of Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the Flamingoes are the first Nigerian team participating in an international football tournament. They drew 1-1 in the quarter-finals against the USA and sailed through on penalties.
