November 14, (THEWILL) – Police in Ogun State have arrested two suspected ritualists for allegedly being in possession of a fresh human head exhumed in Sabo area of Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the State.
The suspects: Monday Karezu, 32, and Anagonou Kamelan, 44, were arrested on November 3, 2021.
They were said to have exhumed the fresh pregnant human head who died three months ago during childbirth in Sabo area of Abeokuta.
Kerezu, a national of Benin Republic was arrested with his accomplice following an information received by the police that some men are coming to an herbalist house with a human head which they want to use for a money making ritual.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday.
Oyeyemi said upon the information the DSP Nurudeen Gafar swiftly moved his men to the area where the herbalist house was situated and laid ambush there.
“Not quite two hours after they had been there, the two suspects arrived in a motorcycle with a bag containing the human head, and they were promptly arrested.”
“On interrogation, Monday Karezu, a national of Benin republic informed the police that he got the head from a place known as ijale papa. This made the policemen follow him to the place only to discover that he was lying.”
“Further investigation revealed that Monday karezu is a resident of Sabo area of Abeokuta, and that the human head with him was that of a woman who died three months ago during childbirth and was buried not too far from his house.” he said
The Police PRO also added that the suspect had one time killed his nine months old daughter and used her head for the same purpose but did not succeed.
Oyeyemi said that he had also exhumed another corpse, removed the head and used it for a money making ritual but failed.
After much failed attempt, Kerezu was later introduced to one Anagonou kamalen, a Togolese, who informed him that he knew an herbalist who can do original money making rituals for him with a human head.
With such information, the suspect went to exhume the corpse of the woman buried not too far to his house, and cut off her head with the help of Kamelen, which they took to the herbalist house where they were apprehended before delivering it.
The commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a full investigation into the past activities of the suspects with the view to charge them to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
