November 08, (THEWILL) – The Twitter account of American comedian, Kathy Griffin, has been suspended for impersonating Elon Musk.
Musk recently revealed that any account that engages in impersonation will be suspended permanently.
The entrepreneur said there will not be a warning before the account will be suspended if the impersonation is not cleared to be a parody.
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.”
He also added that Twitter will now charge users $8 monthly for its blue tick.
The entertainer joined the list of prominent users who impersonated Musk over the weekend.
It is believed that the development was to underscore potential flaws in the social media company’s plans for a revised verification system.
Griffin had changed her name to Elon Musk and copied his profile picture. She also tweeted “After much-spirited discussion with the females in my life, I’ve decided that voting blue for their choice is only right. (They’re also sexy females, btw.) #VoteBlueToProtectWomen.”
The comedian’s account was suspended on Sunday, the same day she taunted Musk.
Musk later replied to a tweet about Griffin’s suspension.
“Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian.
“But if she really wants her account back, she can have it for $8″, he stated.
