January 20, (THEWILL) – Australian Open fans were treated to a thrilling match on Rod Laver Arena as Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the last 16 for the fourth time in his career with a 6-2 7-6(5) 6-3 victory over Tallon Griekspoor.

Tsitsipas, the number three seed, was able to showcase his powerful forehand throughout the match, and was able to progress without dropping a set in his three matches played. The 24-year-old Greek player now sets up a tantalizing clash with world No. 16 Jannik Sinner in the fourth round.

The match was a closely contested one, and the number 15 seed Griekspoor was able to fend off two break points to go 4-3 up in the second set. However, Tsitsipas was able to pick holes in his defense in the tie-break, and ultimately secured the set.

Tsitsipas was helped by the sun as he got the first break of the match, and he was able to strengthen his grip on the match when he broke the Griekspoor serve once again, going 3-1 up due to another unforced error from his opponent.

The match lasted for two hours and six minutes, and Tsitsipas was able to overcome adversity in the second set to secure his spot in the next round. With Griekspoor unable to mount a meaningful response, Tsitsipas finished with a smash on his third match point to book a meeting with Sinner.
