November 17, (THEWILL) – Daniil Medvedev, who saved three match points in a stunning second-set tiebreaker is now out of the Nitto ATP after Stefanos Tsitsipas, produced brilliant tennis in a thrilling battle to keep his chances of making it to the Finals alive.
Medvedev attempted to serve out the match in a tight encounter between two past ATP Finals champions, but Tsitsipas broke and won the tiebreaker to claim the match 6-3 6-7(11) 7-6(1).
To determine who will advance alongside Novak Djokovic, from the Red Group to the semi-finals, Tsitsipas will now play Andrey Rublev on Friday.
The former world No. 1 has lost both of his recent meetings against Tsitsipas and this was likely their greatest matchup in their occasionally tense rivalry.
