Portuguese young star, Geovanny Quenda, and Belgian goalkeeper, Mike Penders, were handed his first Premier League start of the season.
Both sides had chances in the first half but they were unable to find the the breakthrough.
Tottenham took the lead in the 77th minute when Penders punched the ball into his own net when he jumped under pressure from Jan Paul van Hecke at a corner.
Three minutes later, Cole Palmer was sent off for two bookable offences after he stamped on Conor Gallagher to add to Xabi Alonso’s team frustration.

Tottenham coach, Roberto De Zerbi, praised his players for the impressive win.
He said: “I think we deserved to win. The players worked very well, and prepared the game very well. This morning, yesterday, all days in the last week and the quality of the players are very clear.
“I’m happy for the spirit of the players. I think we have to change the last part of the history of our club. I would like to follow in this way.
On fight spiriting: “Football is the quality of the play, the quality of the players, for sure, but it is a competition. It is a fight. You have to run, you have to fight, you have to arrive first to the second ball. You have to win the duels and we did.
“We knew Chelsea play very well, they have clear organisation, clear structure on the pitch. We prepared our players with two midfielders and James Maddison with freedom, where he smells the right position.”

On the other hand, Chelsea coach, Xabi Alonso, was disappointed with the result and the team’s performance.
He said: “We are all disappointed with the result, with the performance collectively and individually we were not at our best level.
“It was about the first goal and it went their way and with 10 men it was difficult but we can do better.
“Chances were the main thing, they had few and we had few. We spoke at half time we had to be patient and mature. We can do better.
“We wanted to have this fluidity in the middle. We wanted the pockets filed with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. There were situations but overall we have to do better.”
Tottenham will be hoping to continue their winning run when they face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
Chelsea will face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on the same day.
