April 26, (THEWILL) – The rumoured arrival of Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, at Manchester City is stirring the exit news around the Etihad with Riyad Mahrez the latest to be in the headlines as a result.
Mahrez is expected to be transferred by City in the forthcoming season, with some of the Europe’s celebrated clubs apparently interested in the Algerian.
The 31-year-old has won the Premier League three times, including once with Leicester City, and will make it four if Pep Guardiola’s charges can cling on this season against the chasing Liverpool.
Mahrez might be facing a fresh task at a new club next season after scoring 38 Premier League goals in four seasons at City.
Although nothing has been finalised, Mahrez is thought to be one of the players City could sell to assist in financing the acquisition of Borussia Dortmund’s Haaland.
So far, football clubs in Spain, France and Italy, especially Barcelona, PSG and Juventus, have shown interest in acquiring the Algerian’s talents when he leaves City.
In 42 appearances across all club competitions this season, Mahrez has scored 23 goals and provided eight assists.
