January 23, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, held a bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, at the State House, Abuja.
THEWILL earlier reported that Blinken is on the second stop of a Four-Nation tour of Africa taking him to Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Angola from January 21-26.
The purpose of the trip is to discuss United States-African partnerships, over trade, climate, infrastructure, health, security and other issues. It follows a summit in Washington, with African leaders in December 2022.
Blinken arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday evening, as part of his Four-Nation African tour. He was received at the Presidential Villa by President Tinubu at exactly 6:55 pm.
Top government officials, who received him include Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake.
After the meeting, he is scheduled to have a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, before his departure later this evening for Lagos, where he will meet with the business community.
