November 2, (THEWILL) – Three more officials have resigned their appointments in the Oyo State Government, extending a wave of departures from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration that began with the resignation of the governor’s Chief of Staff and other political appointees last month.
The latest officials to leave are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; his Special Adviser, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.
THEWILL reports that the three officials submitted their resignation letters on Monday, November 2, with their decisions taking immediate effect.
While Ojo expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve, Oyeleke cited an unconducive working environment, saying he could no longer effectively pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people within the administration.
Falana also relinquished his appointment, although the specific circumstances surrounding his decision were not immediately known.
The latest departures bring to eight the number of officials reported to have resigned their positions in the administration since October, including the governor’s former Chief of Staff and four other appointees.
Budget Commissioner Thanks Makinde
Ojo conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to Makinde through the Secretary to the State Government, with effect from November 2.
In the letter, the former commissioner expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve in his administration and contribute to the development of Oyo State.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour that I do not take lightly”, he stated.
He also thanked Makinde for the confidence reposed in him during his tenure, acknowledging the opportunity to contribute to the government’s policies and development programmes.

Special Adviser Cites Working Environment
Similarly, Oyeleke submitted his resignation as Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, also effective November 2.
In his letter, the former aide cited an unconducive working environment, explaining that the circumstances had made it difficult for him to effectively pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people.
He nevertheless acknowledged Makinde’s leadership, support and encouragement during his time in government.
Oyeleke also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes, while reaffirming his commitment to the peace and progress of Oyo State.

OYSIEC Member Also Quit
Falana, a member of OYSIEC, also reportedly resigned his appointment on Monday, shortly after the announcements by Ojo and Oyeleke.
His departure brings to three the number of officials who relinquished their positions in the state government on the same day.
However, details of his resignation letter and the reasons behind his decision were not immediately available.
The resignation of a member of the state electoral commission alongside two officials in the budget and economic planning sector has added another dimension to the latest developments within the administration.
Latest Exits Follow October Departures
The latest resignations come against the backdrop of several departures from the Makinde administration in October.
On October 12, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, resigned his appointment after serving in the position for more than five years.
His resignation took immediate effect, although he did not publicly disclose the circumstances surrounding his decision.
Makinde subsequently appointed Akinwale Akinwole as his replacement, while Aderonke Adedayo was appointed Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office.
On October 19, four other officials also reportedly resigned their appointments. They included Joshua Olusola Afolabi, Rebecca Oladoja Agbejimi, Noah Olusola Adeyanju and Suleiman Abiodun Adegbola, who served in different capacities within the state administration and local government structure.
The departures have resulted in changes across different arms of the state administration, including the governor’s office, the budget and economic planning sector, local government administration and the electoral commission.
Makinde, who assumed office in May 2019 and secured re-election in March 2023, is serving his second and final constitutionally permitted term as governor.
His administration is expected to end in May 2027, when a successor elected in the next governorship election will take over.
However, the circumstances surrounding Monday’s resignations remain largely undisclosed, and there has been no official indication that the decisions of the three officials are connected.
As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had not issued an official statement explaining the latest departures or announced replacements for the affected positions.
