December 23, (THEWILL) – The Cross River State governor Professor Ben Ayade says the wheels of industrialisation have kicked off in the state.

The governor who disclosed this in Calabar maintained that this will create an alternative to salary dependency in the state.

In the governor’s words, “The wheels of progress of industrialisation have just started to turn with my administration and this will create an alternative to the salary dependency.

“Today, we have an airline, pharmaceutical, garment, instant noodles, frozen chicken, feed mill, rice mill, cocoa processing and vegetable oil factories.

“Government has no business being in business but because all things are not equal, government has core business to do with business”, he said.

He said the government now creates factories because no single individual has what it takes to run these factories but leaving the factories in the hands of the government is asking for its death.

He said he will evolve a concession arrangement to run these factories and leave the decision to privatise to his successor, despite the referendum not because it’s the right thing to do but because it is politically correct.

He stressed that Cross River State has no business with poverty but unfortunately people have failed to see the vision of the government.

He emphasised that big dreams are what makes the difference and a real leader’s vision is something achievable in 100 years.

He however promised to finish strongly stressing that he will not be influenced by the exit syndrome as he winds up his administration.

He promised that by March 2022, the Spaghetti Flyover and Phase one of the Super Highway will be fully functional.
