December 27, (THEWILL) – Notorious terrorist kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli, along with several of his fighters, has been neutralized by troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, in Zamfara State. The operation was conducted on Thursday, December 26.
According to a statement issued by the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Lt-Col Abubakar Abdullahi, the offensive operation took place in Mai Sheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town. The area had long suffered from Ma’oli’s reign of terror, marked by extortion and violence.
Abdullahi explained that the operation was initiated based on credible intelligence about terrorists on motorcycles operating in the Bilbis axis of Bilbis District in Tsafe Local Government Area.
“The troops swiftly responded to the intelligence, thwarting the terrorists’ plans to attack locals and reinforcing their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the area,” the statement read.
Alhaji Ma’oli was notorious for imposing illegal levies on residents in communities such as Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, and Magazawa. His activities had left a trail of fear and despair in the Bilbis District and its surrounding areas.
Lt-Col Abdullahi assured that Operation Hadarin Daji remains steadfast in its mission to eliminate all terrorists and their collaborators within its operational theater.
“The Joint Task Force will continue to work alongside local communities to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and beyond,” Abdullahi said.
The successful neutralisation of Ma’oli and his fighters marks another significant achievement in the military’s efforts to rid Zamfara of terrorism and ensure the safety of its residents.
