March 11, (THEWILL) – Manchester United fans have been given some hope that midfielder, Christian Eriksen, could return to the pitch this season, despite initial concerns over his injury.
Eriksen suffered an ankle injury in January and was initially expected to return to action in late April or early May, but fans became concerned when he was seen still wearing a heavy boot at the club’s Carabao Cup celebrations.
After United’s 4-1 victory against Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, manager Erik ten Hag was asked about Eriksen’s potential return. While he could not give an exact timeline, he said: “I think he will play, definitely. But not before the [March] international break.”
Ten Hag also confirmed that Eriksen is still involved with the team, saying: “Yes, he is. But of course, his main focus is in this moment to get back as soon as possible because we need all the players.”
