April 19, (THEWILL) – Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has played down suggestions of a fractured squad after Alejandro Garnacho apologised for liking social media posts criticising the Dutchman’s handling of the young winger.

The Argentina international had liked two posts on X (formerly Twitter) criticising Ten Hag for substituting him at half-time against Bournemouth last weekend. However, he swiftly unliked the posts and has since apologised to the United boss.

Ten Hag insists the incident is not indicative of disharmony within the United dressing room. “Alejandro is a young player and has to learn a lot. He apologised for it and after that, we moved on,” the former Ajax manager stated. The 20-year-old Garnacho remains available for United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City at Wembley on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has backed the out-of-form Casemiro to rediscover his best form despite recent criticism. The Brazilian holding midfielder has struggled for consistency this season after an impressive debut campaign at Old Trafford. However, his manager remains confident in the 31-year-old’s qualities and ability to bring success to the club.

Ten Hag also commented on Jadon Sancho’s impressive loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, stating the English winger’s form in Germany does not change United’s plans for his future. Sancho played a key role in Dortmund’s Champions League quarter-final success over Atletico Madrid this week.

United could welcome back Scott McTominay and Antony for Sunday’s FA Cup tie, though Harry Maguire faces a late fitness test after missing training this week with a minor injury.
