Moniepoint Group secures three awards, including recognition for its microfinance bank and CEO.
October 20, (THEWILL) – TeamApt Ltd., the financial technology company providing payment infrastructure for banks and fintech firms, has won the Financial Ecosystem Innovator of the Year award at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, following its expansion into capital market access and pension services.
The Central Bank of Nigeria-licensed switching and processing company, a subsidiary of Moniepoint Inc., was recognised for its role in supporting payment transactions across Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
The award comes as TeamApt extends its technology beyond conventional payment processing into services designed to connect more Nigerians to formal financial products, including micro-pensions and retail investment opportunities.
From Payment Processing To Investment Access

For more than a decade, TeamApt has developed and operated switching, processing, and payment infrastructure used by Moniepoint Microfinance Bank and other financial institutions. Its systems facilitate the movement of funds between banks, payment channels, and end users, supporting millions of transactions daily, according to the company.
One of its recent initiatives is a partnership with Awabah to facilitate micro-pension contributions for informal and self-employed workers. Through TeamApt’s Direct Debit service, enrolment and recurring contributions can be processed through point-of-sale terminals, beginning with Moniepoint MFB terminals.
The arrangement targets workers who may not have access to conventional employer-sponsored pension arrangements, providing a payment channel through which they can make regular contributions.
TeamApt has also deployed its infrastructure to support retail subscriptions to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery initial public offering. Working with Moniepoint MFB, the company processes subscriptions through Moniepoint POS terminals and the Moniepoint Personal and Business Banking applications.
The initiative seeks to make participation in the offering more accessible by using everyday banking and payment channels rather than relying exclusively on traditional investment platforms.
However, the company’s announcement did not disclose the number of retail investors reached, the value of subscriptions processed, or the proportion of the IPO subscribed through its infrastructure. Those figures would help establish the scale of the initiative’s impact on retail investment participation.

Commenting on the recognition, TeamApt Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Ajalie, said the award reflected the company’s investment in reliable payment infrastructure and its efforts to extend financial services into new sectors.
He said TeamApt would continue building technology that supports financial institutions and expands access to services for individuals and businesses.
The award was one of three received by the Moniepoint Group at the 2026 BAFI Awards. Moniepoint Microfinance Bank won Microfinance Bank of the Year, while Tosin Eniolorunda, co-founder and chief executive of Moniepoint Inc., received the SME Finance Transformation Leader of the Year award.
TeamApt’s services include switching infrastructure, third-party processing, direct-to-bank transfers and Monnify, its flagship payment gateway. Its latest recognition highlights the growing role of financial technology infrastructure in connecting traditional banking operations with pensions, investment products and other financial services.
For the company, the challenge ahead is translating this expanding reach into measurable gains in transaction volumes, retail investment participation and access to formal financial services.
