SAN FRANCISCO, September 30, (THEWILL) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has called on Nigerians to promote unity, peace and reconciliation in the country.
In a statement signed by his special adviser on media and public affairs, Malam Imam Imam, the speaker said the challenges confronting the nation were not insurmountable.
He said all Nigerians must work tirelessly to promote the tenets of democracy, good governance and responsible citizenry.
The speaker appealed to the political elite to moderate their utterances and be mindful of their responsibility to the country.
He enjoined all leaders to lay more emphasis on executing the mandates given to them by Nigerians, instead of heating up the polity by engaging in unnecessary politicking.
Tambuwal reiterated his earlier calls that the people must isolate and expose all obstacles that hamper the attainment of peace, development, and progress of the nation.
He restated the commitment of the House of Representatives to uphold the ideals of a united Nigeria which, he said, shall take its rightful place in the comity of nations.
Tambuwal’s message came as the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, affirmed that Nigeria’s future remains bright in spite of challenges of national development.
He enjoined Nigerians to remain optimistic and committed to making the country realise her potentials and achieve her God given destiny.
According to him, all countries of the world have their challenges but the determination and resilience of nationals always made the difference.
He noted that the task of building a great nation was on both the leadership and followership of the country.
“Let us not despair in the face of daunting challenges even if though at 53, we ought to have surpassed certain minimum expectations.
“Nigeria will achieve her destiny and realise the lofty dreams of our founding fathers if we keep an attitude of resilience and determination to succeed,” he said.
