The South-East Zonal Council of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has set a six-month target to develop a unified tourism circuit linking Enugu, Anambra, Abia, and Imo states.

Badaki, who spoke at the inauguration of the council in Enugu on Sunday, said the South-East had a major role to play in repositioning Nigeria’s tourism industry, urging the new leadership to prioritise collaboration, visibility and effective engagement with government and other stakeholders.

The festival, organised by Jands Travel Business School (JTBS), took place today at the Virginia Conference Centre, Independence Layout, Enugu.

The National Committee on Industry Professional Bodies Recognition and Governance (NCIPBRG), chaired by Professor Wasiu A. Babalola, was inaugurated in Abuja by NIHOTOUR Director-General, Aare Abisoye Fagade. The committee has three months to submit its recommendations.

he one-day conference, scheduled for October at Radisson Blu, Ikeja, Lagos, will focus on the theme, “Nigerian Tourism Industry and the Nigerian Immigration Service Reforms”. ANJET said the choice of the theme was informed by the close link between immigration policies, visa access and the growth of international tourism.

FTAN President, Dr Aliyu Ajayi Badaki, said the federation’s concern is to ensure that the NIHOTOUR Act 2022 and NTDA Act 2023 reflect the current realities of the tourism industry and protect the interests of operators, investors and other stakeholders.
