Guterres stated this in his message ahead of World Tourism Day 2026, scheduled for September 27, under the theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.”

Speaking in an interview with Arise News, Awakan said Nigeria had an abundance of cultural, heritage and tourism stories that remained largely untold, stressing that effectively packaging and telling those stories could attract visitors and investment to destinations across the country.
