Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, announced the approval on Sunday, describing it as another major step in the Federal Government's programme to transform Nigeria's maritime infrastructure.

Nigeria’s budget deficits remain exceptionally high, partly driven by heavy debt servicing obligations. Like many sectors, the blue economy is facing a severe capital shortfall.

The partnership, which followed a reciprocal visit by a Liberian maritime delegation to the academy on Tuesday, is expected to deepen cooperation between Nigeria and Liberia in maritime training, knowledge sharing, seafarer development and employment opportunities.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, disclosed this while presenting the ministry’s three-year scorecard in Abuja, attributing the increase to regulatory reforms, stronger revenue assurance, digitisation and measures introduced to eliminate financial leakages.
