April 28, (THEWILL) – The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is set to hold its National Full Council Meeting in Kano State on Thursday, May 2.

The Chairman, National Mobilisation Committee of the meeting, AbdulGaffar Oladimeji, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano State on Sunday.

Oladimeji said the meeting will be held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano State, adding that the Minister of Sports, John Enoh, is expected to declare it open

He said that a total of 130 delegates would be attending the meeting, including the 17 NEC members, all former presidents, as well as all former state chairmen and their secretaries and ex-officio members of the association.

He also disclosed that prominent personalities who had immensely contributed to the development of sports in the country, including former NFA chairman, Ibrahim Galadima, would be conferred with the association’s Award at the meeting.

Others to be conferred with the Award, he said, include Kano State Commissioner for Information, Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye, and a Kano-based philanthropist, Isyaku Umar Tofa.

Oladimeji stated that the meeting would discuss, among other issues, the restructuring of the association’s revenue drive so as to boost its revenue base to enable it to fund its own activities, instead of going to the public cap in hands.

He said the gathering would also afford state chairmen of the association to meet and know themselves for the first time.

According to him, the meeting would deliberate on issues of national members of the association who had been suspended, as well as the issue of ratification of people who deserved to become patrons of the union.
