August 08, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s esteemed national football players have united in a powerful display of solidarity, urging the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), to promptly address a longstanding issue pertaining to unpaid wages for the impressive Super Falcons.

The rift between Randy Waldrum’s team and the NFF over overdue salaries has garnered attention from renowned figures like Ian Wright, who have appealed for the NFF to honour the exceptional performance of the women’s team. Adding to that call, former Everton forward, Victor Anichebe, passionately appealed: “NFF pay them! They did us all proud! And even if they didn’t. Pay them what they are owed!!!”

The Super Falcons, though exiting the tournament after a penalty shootout loss to England, have earned widespread respect for their remarkable dedication and accomplishments. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen succinctly echoed the sentiments of many on social media, stating: “Pay them NFF.” Unfortunately, the players find themselves in the distressing position of advocating for fair compensation. Global players’ union FIFPRO expressed concern, stating: “It is regrettable that players needed to challenge their own federation at such an important time.”

As the Super Falcons are poised to return from the competition, the pressure is piling on the NFF to respond to this pressing matter by giving the deserving ladies their due. Nigerian football icon Odion Ighalo noted that this was characteristic of the Federation when he posted: “NFF never stop these things.” It is hoped that these impassioned plea from revered male counterparts, further amplifies the Falcons chorus for rightful compensation.

This collective call to action underscores the imperative of fair treatment and equal recognition across Nigeria’s football landscape. In a testament to their unwavering unity, the national football players’ resolute stance exemplifies the essence of sportsmanship and the collective pursuit of justice.
