March 19, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Super Eagles are gearing up for their quickfire double 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Guinea Bissau’s Djurtus, and Moses Simon is among the early arrivals.

The FC Nantes player, who has 55 caps for the national team, is expected to play a key role in the upcoming games alongside TSG Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma. Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho are also set to arrive at camp on Sunday.

The Super Eagles have already secured six points from their previous two matches, and two victories in the upcoming top-of-the-table clashes could put the three-time champions in an unassailable position in the group. Although Sierra Leone could potentially earn six points in their matches against Sao Tome and Principe, they would still be behind the Super Eagles’ tally of 12 points.

Nigeria also has a home game against Sao Tome and Principe on the final group match-day of the campaign. With the rest of the invited Super Eagles players expected to land in Abuja, on Monday, March 20, anticipation is building ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

The national team will be looking to secure an early ticket to the 34th AFCON finals in Cote d’Ivoire in 2024, with the likes of in-form Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Terem Moffi expected to lead the charge.
