May 28, (THEWILL) – Eight players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and 12 international professionals have reported to the Super Eagles’ United States camp, with more expected, as some players still have club commitments.
Adewale Adeyinka, Ojo Olorunleke, Ibrahim Buhari, Chiamaka Madu, Ishaq Rafiu, Victor Mbaoma, Sanni Faisal, Babatunde Bello, Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, and Moses Simon are among the players currently in camp.
Cyriel Dessers is one of those in camp, having joined colleagues on Saturday morning, bringing the total number of players in Dallas to twenty. The striker is coming off an individual successful season in which he was named top scorer in the inaugural Europa Conference League, and he expressed his delight to be back in the Super Eagles’ group.
Dessers said: “Happy to be back, really happy to be back. Beautiful stadium, and I’m looking forward to the game. For sure (giving a shout out to Nigerian fans), and I hope to see everybody in Abuja.”
Following Mexico, Nigeria will play Ecuador in a friendly match before hosting Sierra Leone in the first encounter of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualification series in Abuja, when the quest for a fourth continental title begins.
